FAMILY BUSINESS
Open Bar Ranch is a multi-generational family compound located in Texas hill country. We quickly found that keeping up with land clearing was either physically impossible or prohibitively expensive. We’re avoiding chemicals due to side effects on our seizure prone rescue pup that loves to wander the property with the other 4 legged family members. The best solution seemed to be MORE animals! The goats are great for clearing nearly everything including all the lower little sprouts on the trees. We’ve taken up bee keeping in the hopes that the super-local honey will alleviate some of the family allergies. We’ve also tried our hand at Agarita berry harvesting and found it can be made into an excellent mixer for Agarita-margaritas! If only the season was longer!!! Black walnut trees are interspersed throughout the property and harvesting is also completed seasonally. The property has also proven to be a prolific provider of cactus which we harvest for local market and online sales.
